UNILAG Unveils 2024/2025 Admission Screening Dates and Comprehensive Criteria for Admitted Students

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has officially outlined the process and requirements for the screening and registration of newly admitted candidates for the 2024/2025 academic session. The exercise is scheduled to run from Monday, December 2, 2024, to Friday, January 24, 2025, excluding the festive period.

If you are a newly admitted student, here is a step-by-step guide to completing your registration.

Step 1: Book a Registration Appointment

Candidates are required to schedule an appointment before proceeding with the registration. Follow these instructions:

Access the UNILAG Student Portal at studentportal.unilag.edu.ng.
Log in with your JAMB Number or Application Number as your username, and your surname in lowercase as the password.
Update your password immediately after logging in to secure your account.
Navigate to the menu on the left, click Appointment, then select New Appointment.
Choose the registration type associated with your faculty.
Pick a suitable date and session for your appointment.
Confirm by clicking Schedule Appointment, then print the appointment slip generated on the portal.

Ensure you bring the printed appointment slip to the registration venue, as it is mandatory for entry.

Step 2: Upload Your Documents

Before arriving at the venue, candidates must upload specific documents through the portal. Here’s how:

Log in to the UNILAG portal via www.unilag.edu.ng.
Click on Admissions, then select 2024/2025 Screening.
Fill in your bio-data and print the screening form.
Upload clear and original copies of the following documents:
- JAMB Admission Letter
- O’Level Certificate (statements of results or online printouts are not accepted)
- Secondary School Testimonial
- Birth Certificate
- State of Origin Certificate (this must align with the state declared during JAMB registration)
- Reference Letter addressed to the Registrar and signed by a recognized individual, such as a cleric, lawyer, or senior public officer
- Previous Degree Certificate (Direct Entry candidates only)

Step 3: Attend the Screening

On the scheduled date, proceed to the screening venue with all the necessary documents. You must submit the following:

A colored original and photocopy of the Screening Form.
The UNILAG Online Application Form (Direct Entry candidates only).
A colored original and photocopy of your JAMB Acknowledgment Slip (Direct Entry candidates only).
A colored original and photocopy of your UTME Result Slip (not required for Direct Entry).
A colored original and photocopy of your Post-UTME Result Slip.
Original and photocopies of your Birth Certificate, Testimonial, and State of Origin Certificate.
A valid Reference Letter with required details and seals.
Twelve (12) Passport Photographs with your full name written on the back.

Make sure to present the original versions of all your credentials for verification.

Step 4: Payment of Fees

Once you have completed the screening, wait 24 hours before generating a payment advice slip from the portal. Payments can then be made at any bank.

Step 5: Complete Faculty and Departmental Registration

After paying your fees, report to your faculty and department to complete the registration process.

Important Information

Impersonation Warning: Anyone found guilty of impersonating another candidate will lose their admission and may face legal prosecution.
Drug Policy: The university enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy on drug use. All students must undergo mandatory drug testing, and those who test positive or fail to attend the test will have their admission revoked.
Matriculation and Orientation: The dates for these events will be communicated in due course.
