JAMB Announces Post-UTME Exemptions for International Students and Candidates with Disabilities

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released important updates regarding who is exempt from participating in the upcoming Post-UTME screening tests conducted by universities and other institutions.

Who is Exempted from Post-UTME Screening?

  1. International Applicants: Candidates applying from outside Nigeria, who applied through UTME or Direct Entry (DE) modes, are not required to take the Post-UTME screening test. However, they may be screened by the institution after admission.
  2. Candidates with Disabilities: JAMB has emphasized that candidates with disabilities are exempted from Post-UTME screening. This includes those who are blind, deaf, mute, autistic, or have physical limitations like amputations, paralysis, or disfigurements. Additionally, those with learning disabilities like Dyslexia or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and those with conditions like Down syndrome or albinism, are also exempted.

Ensuring Transparency and Fair Practices

JAMB has urged all institutions to clearly communicate these exemptions in their official announcements and advertisements regarding Post-UTME screening. This ensures transparency and fair practices for all applicants during the admissions process.
