JAMB uncovers 142 Kano varsity applicants with fake results

Only six of the 148 A-level results submitted to Bayero University Kano for direct entry admission were found to be legitimate by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, leaving 142 results that were judged to be fake.

Making sure that only valid documents are utilized for admission is one of the main goals of JAMB’s screening procedure, the organization disclosed in a recent weekly newsletter.

The board also emphasized how important it is for educational institutions to thoroughly verify these documents.

Two years ago, in response to concerns expressed by Bayero University, Kano, JAMB created the Nigeria Integrated Post-Secondary Education Data System to address this problem.

According to the university, out of the 148 results it checked, only six were authentic; the rest were fake.

JAMB was able to identify phony certifications used in Direct Entry applications, even those from overseas institutions, thanks to NIPEDS.
