JAMB plans to ensure a seamless registration and examination process for the 2025 UTME.
Concerned parents and guardians have urged the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to ease the stress and annoyance that came with earlier exams as millions of applicants get ready to take the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Stakeholders advised the board to develop more ways to lessen the aggravation that applicants have when taking the exam, acknowledging that the board’s growing technological deployment and synergy have enhanced the candidates’ experience.
However, the board has reaffirmed its commitment to administering the most outstanding Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in its history, acknowledging the magnitude of the duty to meet the high expectations of applicants for a flawless exam.
To do this, the board has put in place extensive procedures designed to give stakeholders and candidates an unmatched registration and testing experience.
To this end, the board has examined all procedures for the administration of the 2024 UTME in detail.
Regardless of whether they choose to study regularly or irregularly, the JAMB has required all applicants who wish to enroll in any program at any Nigerian tertiary institution to provide their National Identification Number (NIN) at the time of registration.
As a result, JAMB announced that all potential applicants in the non-regular category (NOUN, Distance Learning, Part-time, and Sandwich programs) must now generate a profile code before registering with JAMB. This is done by sending their NIN via their unique phone number to either of the board’s sort codes (55019 or 66019).
The board claims that the review covers the creation of enough test items to meet the needs of the computer-based Test (CBT) exercise, as well as the accreditation of testing facilities, the pre-exam registration procedure, and result management.
Smarting from the insights gained from the 2024 review, the board has established robust measures to prevent the recurrence of the few challenges faced in 2024.
JAMB has successfully created a pool of acceptable test items, finished center accreditation, and scheduled the start of registration for January 2025.
“The Board believes that candidates participating in the 2025 UTME will experience an examination like never before,” JAMB stated in a bulletin.
JAMB urged candidates to build their profiles by texting their eleven-digit NIN number to 55019, followed by NIN (space), as they wait for the formal registration rollout. When the time comes, this will guarantee that they can finish registering without any delays.
Tune Up For Staff Members
In order to prepare for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) procedures, it encouraged its employees to either register (for new hires) or update their information (for current employees), acknowledging the need to keep up with the latest changes.
To prevent any protocol violations by applicants or examination officials, including JAMB staff, the board clarified that the effort is in line with its commitment to strengthening security measures that encourage accountability and openness throughout the examination process.
All departments and outstation offices have been informed of the process for updating or registering on the board’s intranet. By the end of this week, staff members must finish the registration or update.
With the high stakes involved, the security of this examination is crucial, requiring strict measures to verify the identities of all personnel involved in its administration. “All officials must provide their details, including their National Identification Number (NIN), to ensure the integrity of this critical exercise.” “This crucial process is part of the preparations for the upcoming 2025 UTME/DE, which is set to commence shortly.” “Staff members who have not yet obtained their NIN are strongly encouraged to do so immediately, as it is required to create their profiles.”
Collaboration With Security Operatives
The JAMB has persisted in pursuing collaborations with security authorities to prevent security breaches.
In keeping with this, Commandant Agun Gbenga Joseph of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC), Edo State Command, recently had a courtesy call from Mr. Hassan Lawal, the Ag. Director, Benin Zonal Office.
Lawal clarified that the purpose of the visit was to strengthen the friendly relationship between the Board and the NSCDC.
The Commandant acknowledged the necessity of cooperation and promised the board his full assistance. He also mentioned that the corps had placed its staff in all board facilities across the country in that spirit.
Lawal expressed gratitude to the Commandant for the tremendous assistance that NSCDC has consistently provided to JAMB whenever it was needed.
Thus, he took advantage of the opportunity to inform the Commandant about the forthcoming 2025
UTME Registration exercise as he recognized the corps’ crucial contributions to earlier drills.
Board Warns Staff Against Infractions
Understanding that board employees must follow the guidelines governing the administration of the crucial national exam, JAMB has urged staff members to constantly endeavor to behave in a way that will benefit the board.
In the meantime, Mr. Hakeem AbdulHameed, the Ogun State Coordinator, has tasked and reminded board employees to follow the board’s operations’ norms and guidelines.
He thanked the staff for their steadfast support over the last year, urged them always to aim to behave in ways that would benefit the board, and asked for more support in the coming year.
