Out of four months, NASU/SSANU one month’s salary Paid – Olushola

The Federal Government only paid one month of the four months of withheld salary for members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities – SSANU, and the Non-Academic Staff Union – NASU, on Friday, November 1st, 2024.

This runs counter to the government’s declaration that the salaries that were withheld had been paid in full.

In a phone interview with the Daily Post on Saturday, Falowo Olushola, the chairman of SSANU’s University of Ilorin branch, made this announcement.

According to Falowo, the union members were anticipating payment of half of the four months of withheld earnings, or two months instead of just one.

“On Friday, we began receiving our alerts, which represents one month of the fifty percent promised,” he said.

“Unless there is a counter directive from the national headquarters of the unions, the strike action by the two unions will continue until their demands are fully met,” he continued.

He expressed disapproval of the government’s handling of the presidential decree, which mandated that the salaries that had been withheld since last year be paid.

To emphasize their demands for the payment of their four months’ worth of withheld salary, the unions launched an indefinite strike last week, as the Daily Post remembers.
