JAMB Closes Portal for 2025 WASSCE Result Upload

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has declared that its portal for uploading the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results will be temporarily closed.

This decision is made to rectify technical issues affecting candidates who had previously uploaded the initially available results.

JAMB announced X, stating that it has temporarily shut the 2025 WASSCE result upload portal to address issues faced by candidates who uploaded their initial results.

“Attention, Dear Candidates, please note that the temporary closure of the 2025 WASSCE result upload portal is to resolve the issues experienced by those who had previously uploaded the initial WASSCE results,” the board explained.

Reassurance for candidates
The examination body expressed its commitment to assist affected candidates, confirming that steps are being taken to resolve the matter, and they will be informed when it’s time to re-upload their results.

“Kindly exercise patience as our technical team works on the portal. You will soon be notified to upload your results. Thank you,” they added.

This temporary suspension impacts candidates applying for admission for the 2024/2025 academic term who need to upload their WASSCE results to complete the admission process.

For those who had uploaded results from the original WASSCE release, the technical update aims to ensure correctness and avoid inconsistencies in the admission records.

Frequent outages
In recent days, various examination bodies in Nigeria, including WAEC, NECO, and now JAMB, have halted access to their portals not because of random technical malfunctions, but to preemptively tackle underlying problems and enhance system reliability.

WAEC restricted access to its result checker portal on August 6, shortly after the release of results, following an internal assessment that revealed technical issues related to paper serialization in vital subjects like mathematics, English, biology, and economics.

NECO declared a nationwide closure of its examination platforms for designated maintenance. This followed several days of unexpected downtime that had frustrated students and impeded result checks, registrations, and verifications, with some even experiencing delays in their international application processes.

Essential information
For the 2025/2026 academic year, JAMB disclosed performance statistics indicating that this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scores are the highest since the Computer-Based Test (CBT) was introduced in 2013.

According to the board, 17,025 candidates, representing 0.88% of those who participated in the UTME, achieved scores of 300 and above, which is a notable rise from 8,401 candidates (0.46%) in 2024 and 5,318 candidates (0.35%) in 2023.

The positive trend persisted across other score ranges, with 117,373 candidates (6.08%) scoring 250 and above in 2025, compared to 77,070 (4.18%) in 2024 and 56,736 (3.73%) in 2023. For scores of 200 and above, 565,988 candidates (29.3%) reached this threshold in 2025, an increase from 439,961 candidates (24%) in 2024 and 355,689 candidates (23.36%) in 2023.

Stakeholders have now established the minimum admissible scores for the upcoming admission cycle at 150 for universities, 100 for polytechnics, 100 for colleges of education, and 140 for colleges of nursing sciences.
