WAEC opens registration for January-February 2025 resit exams

Candidates may retake their West African Senior Secondary Examinations (WASSCE) papers as early as January and February 2025, thanks to a retake exam program that was started by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

In an appearance on JoyNews’ AM Show in Ghana on Sunday, John Kapi, the Head of Public Affairs of WAEC, affirmed this.

Kapi declared that in order to help pupils raise their marks more quickly, WAEC launched a new program called WASSCE PC1.

“Students can register online through our website or at WAEC-accredited internet cafés by January 8th if they check their WAEC results and discover they need to retake one or two subjects,” Kapi said.

The dates of the tests are set for January 24, 2025, through February 15, 2025.

According to Kapi, WAEC intends to share chief examiners’ reports more quickly in order to aid applicants in their preparation. These reports will give insightful information about potential weak points and offer suggestions for improving study and test-taking strategies.

“To make sure parents and students are aware of this program, we have extensively promoted it through banners, our website, and the results checker platform,” Kapi continued.

He added that, as long as they haven’t had a lengthy ban for wrongdoing, pupils whose results were invalidated are still qualified to take the WASSCE PC1 exams.

The examinations will take place in regional capitals because of the small number of applicants. To take advantage of this opportunity, prospective participants are urged to finish the registration process by January 8th.

In order to avoid any delays in the academic progress of candidates, WAEC hopes that this initiative will enable them to rapidly improve their grades and qualify for the next admission cycle.
