Uzodimma Calls for Urgent Investigation into JAMB Website Hacking Incident
Hope Uzodimma, the governor of Imo State, has urged the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services to step up their investigation into alleged hackers who targeted the website of the Joint Administration and Monitoring Board.
Over 370,000 students, primarily from the southeast, had their results impacted by JAMB’s website issues during the most recent Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Board exam.
On Friday, the DSS and police stated that 20 people had been arrested in connection with the hacking of the 2025 UTME computer-based test.
According to reports, the suspects paid to hack the JAMB website, which led to the examination body’s pandemonium and the trauma that followed for parents and pupils.
The governor praised the security personnel for apprehending the perpetrators and characterized the arrest as timely in a statement released on Saturday by Declan Emelumba, the state commissioner for information, public orientation, and strategy.
He claimed that the arrest was required to both identify the underlying cause of the issue and ease the strain that the crisis had caused in the country.
“The Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Service must proceed swiftly with the investigation to identify the individuals responsible for the JAMB website hack,” the statement continued.
“A prompt investigation and the suspects’ arraignment in court would serve as a deterrent to potential offenders.”
“The JAMB scandal was a national disgrace that needed to be resolved right away.
However, the governor praised Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the JAMB registrar, for his dedication and honesty in making sure the exam body’s sanctity was maintained.
