JAMB Sends New Exam Dates & Centers to Affected UTME Candidates — Check Yours Now!
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) will administer the rescheduled Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) today for students impacted by technological and human faults during the initial exercise.
According to the Nation, the exam authority notified the impacted students yesterday that they might retake the UTME that was impeded.
SMS alerts regarding the date, time, and locations of the rescheduled exam have started to be sent to candidates in Lagos, Imo, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, and Abia.
Following the issues that plagued the initial test sessions, 379,997 candidates are anticipated to take part in the rescheduled exam.
The rescheduled exam is planned for today, tomorrow, and Monday, according to JAMB’s SMS messaging.
Speaking to the media about the mistakes on Wednesday in Abuja, JAMB Registrar Prof. Is-haq Oloyede admitted that a mix of technological and human faults caused the disruptions in this year’s UTME.
The board assured the public that it was taking corrective action to guarantee a smooth rescheduled UTME, but it ruled out sabotage.
Prominent Nigerians and organizations have also been praising Prof. Oloyede for owning up to his mistakes and acting swiftly to address the issue.
Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, has commended Oloyede for his candid acknowledgement of the technological issues that plagued the test.
In a statement yesterday, Obi described Oloyede’s forthright recognition of the wrong and his expression of remorse as “a rare but commendable display of accountability” in Nigeria’s public institutions.
He complimented JAMB’s prompt response to the errors, underlining the need for systematic improvements and greater safeguards to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Additionally, JAMB received praise from the National Orientation Agency (NOA) for acknowledging its mistakes in the recently finished 2025 UTME.
The agency praised JAMB for its “exceptional transparency and accountability” in tackling the issues that arose after the results were made public in a statement released yesterday in Abuja.
Additionally, Oloyede has received full support from the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group (JEOG) due to the technical difficulties.
JEOG commended the registrar for his “candor, courage, and transparency” in addressing public concerns and outlining the technological issues that impacted certain testing locations in a statement released yesterday in Abuja by its chairman, Emeritus Professor Peter Okebukola.
Dr. Smart Olugbeko, President of COEASU, responded to the news yesterday in Abuja by saying, “The recent errors highlight the limitations of technology and the need for diligence and care in its deployment.”
