UTME 2025: JAMB Dismisses Claims of Wrong Posting — Promises Cash Reward for Valid Proof!
Anyone who can demonstrate that a candidate was assigned outside of their chosen examination town will receive a monetary award from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), which has issued a strong warning against the circulation of false information about its examination posting process.
Fabian Benjamin, Ph.D., JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, made this declaration in a formal statement on Saturday, April 26. Some parents are being misled by their kids and school administrators into thinking that candidates are sent to test locations outside of their selected towns, according to JAMB.
“We firmly believe that some parents are consistently being misled, tricked, and deceived by their children, as well as by some secondary school owners who are spreading the myth that JAMB places candidates in testing locations outside of their selected test towns.”
At the time of registration, candidates are free to choose the examination town of their choice, and JAMB only assigns them to centers in such locations, the board stressed.
“ Let’s be clear: candidates are free to choose the examination town of their choice at the time of registration. They are then assigned by JAMB to a center in that selected town.
The unfounded claim that candidates are sent to towns other than the ones they were chosen for is false, nefarious, and intended only to damage the board’s standing. “It never occurs,” said the board.
Payment for evidence
To dispel the myth, JAMB said that anyone who could produce genuine proof that a candidate was posted outside of their selected town would receive a monetary award.
According to the announcement, “The Board thus challenges this false but popular narrative by offering a handsome financial reward to any one person who can provide authentic proof of just one candidate who is posted outside the candidate’s chosen town.”
For the sake of openness, JAMB ordered that the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) receive such evidence.
For the umpire to guarantee that the reward is delivered or that the Board is permanently cleared from the ongoing campaign of slander, they stated that such proof must be sent to the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) WhatsApp Number: 08056003030 within the next 96 hours.
Additional information
To allay worries regarding the amount of time applicants must spend at testing locations, JAMB contrasted its regulations with those of other airlines.
“Similarly, if there is nothing wrong with airlines asking passengers to get to the airport two hours before departure, then there should be nothing wrong with encouraging candidates to arrive at the CBT centers ninety minutes before the start of the test for preliminary verification.”
According to JAMB, a large number of parents appear to be ignorant of the prerequisite procedures needed to administer the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The board observed that “many parents who anticipate that candidates will spend no more than two hours for the two-hour examination are unaware of the required preliminary processes.”
A contestant who used superstition throughout the exam was the subject of an incident shared by JAMB. As advised by her grandfather, a female candidate chose to forego answering any questions in favor of a miracle intervention—something the Board stated does not occur with JAMB.
The Board called on the public to trust government agencies, highlighting their commitment to acting in the public good, and urged candidates to avoid depending on irrational ideas.
