Agricultural extension refers to the advisory services and support provided to farmers to improve their productivity, food security, and livelihoods .

This is the application of scientific research and new knowledge to agricultural practices through farmer education.

Study duration is five years.

School Fees for Agricultural Extension

The school fees for Agricultural Extension at the UNN for the current academic year is as follows :

  • Freshers: ₦110,900
  • 200 level: ₦90,750
  • 300 level: ₦74,000
  • 400 level: ₦74,000
  • 500 level: ₦70,500

Admission Requirements into UNN Agricultural Extension

UNN offers two primary entry modes for Agricultural Extension:

  1. JAMB UTME Entry (100-Level):

This is for students who wrote JAMB, the standard entry mode for students with the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), National Examination Council (NECO), or their equivalents.

  1. Direct Entry:

This mode caters to candidates with qualifications beyond secondary school, such as Higher National Diplomas (HNDs) or Advanced Level (A’Level) certificates in relevant fields.

JAMB Subject Combination For UNN Agricultural Extension:

For the UTME exams, you’ll need to select the following subjects:

  • English Language
  • Chemistry
  • Biology/Agricultural Science
  • Mathematics or Physics

O’Level Requirements For UNN Agricultural Extension

O’Level requirements for admission is at least five credit passes in your  O’Level exams in these subjects:

  • English Language
  • Mathematics
  • Chemistry
  • Biology or Agricultural Science
  • Any other Science or Social Science subject

You can achieve the five credits in one sitting or a maximum of two sittings.

Departmental cutoff mark 

The departmental cutoff mark for UNN Agricultural Extension  is between 160 – 200.

Direct Entry Requirements into UNN Agricultural Extension

For candidates seeking direct entry into UNN Agricultural extension requires the following:

  • A minimum of two A-Level passes in relevant subjects such as Biology, mathematics, or chemistry.
  • National Diploma (ND) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in agricultural Science/Animal Health and related fields with a minimum of Lower Credit (Merit) in addition to UTME Entry requirement.
  • NCE with merit in relevant subjects.
  • Equivalent qualifications are recognised by the university.

Additional Considerations

The Post-UTME Screening occurs  months after JAMB, where you will register for  this exercise conducted by UNN. This is a CBT exam.
