UNILAG Denies Withholding 2025 Post-UTME Results

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has refuted allegations regarding the retention of results from the recently held 2025 Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Post UTME).

This clarification came in response to a pre-action petition directed at the Vice Chancellor by Hon Kene Kennedy of F K Nnadi and Co, which claimed that certain results were being held back and requested their release.

In an official reply dated September 23 and signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mrs. V Abosede Wickliffe, the university affirmed that all Post UTME results have been properly disseminated to candidates.

“Please be informed that there is currently no instance of withheld 2025 Post UTME results at the University of Lagos. All results have been appropriately released to candidates, and those disqualified due to examination malpractice have been duly informed,” the statement indicated.

UNILAG clarified that several candidates were disqualified after being found guilty of academic misconduct during the screening procedure. The university mentioned that its internal protocols were initiated to examine the violations following established guidelines.

“As you may know, the examination process uncovered several instances of misconduct that violate the requirements for provisional admission into the university. This resulted in the disqualification of particular candidates, potentially including one or more of your clients, as suggested in your correspondence. These developments have been publicly shared through the university’s Information Bulletin,” it stated.

While recognizing individuals’ rights to pursue redress, the university emphasized that admission to UNILAG is provisional and dependent on adhering to academic and ethical standards.

“The university acknowledges individuals’ rights to seek remedies for perceived issues. Nevertheless, it is vital to stress that admission is based on adherence to principles of academic integrity and ethical behavior.”

UNILAG reiterated its dedication to a clear and merit-based admission process in alignment with its fundamental academic principles.
