UniAbuja Explains Post-UTME Grading to Parents

The University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) has clarified the Post-UTME grading system following concerns expressed by parents and candidates regarding discrepancies between their results and scores.

The admissions office of the university stated on its Facebook page that the Post-UTME grading system is complex and does not evaluate results arbitrarily.

It emphasized that each candidate’s performance is assessed in relation to their chosen course.

“We have received questions from parents and candidates about perceived inconsistencies between their results and Post-UTME scores.

“We aim to clarify these concerns. The Post-UTME grading system is complex and does not evaluate results arbitrarily.

“Each candidate’s performance is judged based on the course they are applying for. For example, a candidate pursuing MBBS will see biology weighted more heavily, whereas economics will be irrelevant for that program.

“Conversely, for candidates applying for economics or related fields, economics will be favored over biology. Hence, even if two candidates have the same grades, the difference in subject relevance will naturally result in varying Post-UTME scores,” the office explained.

The office reassured parents that the system is transparent, credible, and adheres to accepted standards.

It also encouraged stakeholders to have faith in the process, as the institution is dedicated to fairness and accuracy in admissions.
