UI Sets October 10 Deadline for 2025 ODeL Admissions

The University of Ibadan (UI) has announced that the opportunity for a special admission window for its Open, Distance, and e-Learning (ODeL) undergraduate programsill end at midnight on Friday, October 10, 2025.

The university encourages all candidates who are currently being screened or planning to apply directly to fulfilll all requirements before this deadline.

In a statement released by the Director of the University of Ibadan DLC, Prof. Babatunde Omobowale, he noted that the University of Ibadan-ODeL model offers a flexible route to obtaining a degree from the esteemed University of Ibadan.

He mentioned that this initiative provides an opportunity for qualified candidates whose admission is constrained by JAMB/UTME limitations related to conventional classroom environments. It also caters to individuals who require adaptable study options due to work commitments or personal circumstances, or those seeking a credible alternative pathway.

He indicated that the matriculation ceremony for the new students will take place on Saturday, October 30, 2025, at the UI International Conference Center (ICC), emphasizing that participation in this event is mandatory as it formally welcomes new students into the renowned University of Ibadan.

The matriculation event will include a special component: the Matriculation Lectures. Esteemed alumni who obtained first-class degrees in computer science, psychology, and political science through the UI-ODeL method will give these addresses.

“Three outstanding graduates from the first ODeL program will share their experiences: Mr. OLALEKAN Akolade Abass (Computer Science) will provide valuable insights on succeeding in a flexible learning environment; he will be accompanied by Mr. AKINDUBI Jelili Babatunde (Psychology), who will examine strategies for achieving academic success at UI; and lastly, Mr. OKOYE Mark (Political Science) will discuss unique opportunities available to UI-ODeL students and graduates.”

“The center invites applicants who possess five relevant O’ Level credits in one sitting or six in two sittings to apply for programs in various fields, including sciences (computer science and statistics); social sciences (economics, sociology, psychology, and political science); and humanities & education (philosophy, public affairs, communication and language arts, English, social work, educational management, guidance and counselling, and library and information studies).
