Gov Uba Sani Reveals Why Tuition Fees in State-Owned Universities Were Slashed by 50%
By lowering tuition fees at postsecondary schools controlled by Kaduna State by 50%, Gov. Uba Sani claimed that his administration had eliminated one of the obstacles to obtaining tertiary education.
The governor pointed out that more students from low-income families can now easily obtain university degrees in Kaduna State thanks to the tuition cost cut.
The governor announced this during a public lecture on the university campus and the opening of the Kaduna State University (KASU) chapter of the Kaduna State Students Union, represented by his principal private secretary, Professor Bello Ayuba.
Governor Uba Sani expressed gratitude to the students for giving him the Sword of Honor Award and for focusing the public address on the accomplishments of his government.
“The government will continue to support students and the youth generally to realize their ambitions,” he told the students. On your end, make sure that there is enough peace for the government’s development initiatives to be completed.
“No meaningful development can be achieved in a state of chaos, disunity, and mutual mistrust,” he warned the students and lecturers in attendance.
But based on your actions during the time I have been in charge of our state’s affairs, he said, “You have shown yourself to be dependable partners in progress, and I can count on you every step of the way.”
The governor remembered that insecurity in certain local government areas had formerly put Kaduna State under siege, which had detrimental effects on economic and agricultural operations.
He pointed out that the united efforts of security agencies have now significantly decreased the security issues, resulting in safer roads, people going back to their farms, and local markets reopening.
Along with other markets in Giwa Local Government’s security-challenged areas, Governor Sani emphasized the reopening of the Birnin Gwari livestock market, which had been shuttered for more than a decade.
“We have started the construction of over 78 road projects covering 775 kilometers in the last 22 months, many of which have already been completed, most of them being rural link roads,” he added.
He also mentioned that 255 healthcare facilities are being upgraded and regular hospitals are being renovated. In order to create a more favorable atmosphere for teaching and learning, more schools are being constructed and existing ones are being renovated.
The students’ union gave Governor Sani the Sword of Honor Award, citing his administration’s efforts to lower tuition costs and add new faculty to the university as reasons.
His “decision to facilitate the CBN Intervention Project for the Faculty of Engineering at KASU, which is a testament to your vision of building a brighter future for the youth,” was also praised by the union.
The union continued, “Your instruction to KASU administration to permit all students to take exams regardless of unpaid fees further demonstrates your profound concern for the underprivileged, guaranteeing that no student is left behind because of financial limitations.”
The union claims that by placing a higher priority on youth empowerment, infrastructure development, and education, Governor Uba Sani has genuinely changed the idea of good administration.
