Tinubu Hails Release of Kebbi Schoolgirls, Seeks Stronger Security

President Bola Tinubu expressed his relief after the release of 24 schoolgirls who were kidnapped by terrorists in Maga, Kebbi State, last Monday. The incident took place in the early hours of November 17, right after a military unit had left the school grounds.

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, quoted President Tinubu as saying, “I feel a tremendous sense of relief knowing that all 24 girls have been located.”

He commended the security forces for their dedication and hard work in securing the victims’ release in the affected regions.

The president also called for renewed determination in the fight against kidnapping. He emphasized the need for more security in at-risk areas. “We must urgently deploy more personnel in vulnerable regions to prevent further kidnapping incidents. My administration will provide all necessary support to accomplish this,” he said.

Recent abductions in Eruku, Kwara State, and Papiri, Niger State, have raised concerns. However, all 38 victims kidnapped in Eruku were rescued on Sunday. Additionally, 50 students missing from a Catholic school in Niger State were found safe at their homes on the same day.

The president has directed security forces to increase their efforts to rescue any remaining students still held by terrorists. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to protecting Nigeria’s children.
