The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Allied and Education Institutions (NASU) have both decided to go on strike for two weeks across the country.

The leadership of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of university non-teaching staff unions has announced that a two-week warning strike will begin on Monday.

This is contained in a memo dated Friday, March 25, 2022, and addressed to the leadership of the unions’ branches across the country.

It states in part, “In light of the government’s casual attitude toward our demands, this is to direct our members in all universities and inter-university centers throughout the country to begin a two-week strike by midnight on Sunday, March 27, 2022, in the first instance, as previously conveyed to the federal government in our letter.”

“Please keep in mind that the two-week warning strike should be comprehensive and total, with no concessions made under any circumstances.”

“Your strict compliance and adherence to this directive is mandatory for all branches of NASU and SSANU in the universities and inter-university centres.
