Scholarly Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Sues Obaseki for Halting Union Activities in Edo-Owned Higher Institutions
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has recorded a claim against the legislative head of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, for placing a stop to all association tasks in state-possessed higher instructive establishments.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma in Edo State, has recorded a claim against Governor Godwin Obaseki, the Edo State Government, and the Attorney-General of the state in light of the keep going week’s restriction on association exercises in all state-possessed tertiary establishments.
Executive and Assistant Secretary of ASUU, Dr. Cyril Onogbosele and Dr. William Odion, who are petitioners, are asking the National Industrial Court sitting in Edo State to decide if the state government and different litigants for the situation have the power under Section 40 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as corrected) and Section 35(3) of the Trade Unions Act, Cap. T14, Laws of Nigeria, to suspend or forbid worker’s guild exercises in AAU.
Following a dissent by AAU understudies over the continuous cross country strike by ASUU, the state organization shut down all association tasks at all state-claimed foundations of advanced education.
