South-East Senators Tackle JAMB Over Exam Glitches — Demand Action to Prevent Reoccurrence

According to the South-East Senate Caucus, the Joint Admission and Manipulation Board, or JAMB, examination problem in several Lagos centers, and particularly in the entire South-East, during the most recent exams, has caused concern.
Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, the caucus’s chairman, said in a statement released on Saturday in Abuja that it would be depressing to consider such a conspiracy idea, adding that it is “a narrow agenda being pursued to shortchange and harm the future of our children deliberately.”
The Caucus expressed cautious optimism about the steps being taken to lessen the near-calamity, especially the postponement of the exam, but cautioned that a repeat of the incident would not be tolerated in the future.
The JAMB management, especially its Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, publicly expressed remorse and apologized with tears, which the South-East senators applauded as a prompt admission of guilt.
The parliamentarians cautioned that such public displays of penitence shouldn’t be used to cover up a darker objective that could eventually threaten the scholastic progress of South-East students.
“The so-called glitch, as curious and suspicious as it was, is enough to erode confidence and dangerously lower national pride among the future generation,” one section of the statement said.
“The pertinent national education drivers must acknowledge the inherent risk of introducing divisive politics and limited local considerations into the formulation of policies and their execution.
“The fact that the glitch occurred throughout the South-East raises important questions that JAMB needs to address to allay the growing fears and frustrations of the local population, especially the children who are directly affected.” Instead of pursuing a limited agenda that may eventually undermine national unity, we must promote a Nigerian agenda.
One of the most crucial pillars of any society’s progress is still education. It is one of the most important indicators of progress in all facets of life that is always faultless. Education is a crucial pivot that triggers national progress. Since every child has a right to it, why shouldn’t we use it for roulette?
The Caucus emphasized that it is vigilant and has categorically requested JAMB and other pertinent national educational policy drivers to provide solid assurance that such a scandalous error will never happen again.
