96 percent of Lagos State University (LASU) programs have received full or interim accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC).
….96% of programs receive full, interim accreditation as the Faculty of Law receives back-to-back full accreditation for the first time.

On Monday, there was palpable excitement in the Vice Chancellor’s office at Lagos State University, as word reached the Vice Chancellor that the university had received near-total accreditation for programs it put up for accreditation by relevant bodies in the recently concluded exercise. The accreditation process was successful for 49 of the 51 programs evaluated.

Mrs. Olanrewaju Olanrewaju-John, Director, Directorate of Academic Planning, noted in submitting the NUC report on accreditation that this was the best performance by a Vice Chancellor in their first year in office.

We can also report that the outcome resulted in the following notable accomplishments:

LASU’s flagship program, the Faculty of Law, received full accreditation for all of its programs for the first time in the university’s history.

For the first time, the Nursing Department received full accreditation.

For the first time, all programs submitted to the College of Medicine received full accreditation.

The Department of Pharmacology was fully accredited for its very first accreditation program.

All postgraduate programs offered by the Postgraduate School were fully accredited.

All programs in the Faculty of Management Sciences that were evaluated were accredited.

Among others, the African Centre of Excellence for STEM Education received full accreditation.

While expressing her delight at the news, the Vice Chancellor thanked the Lagos State Government, led by Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the massive support it provided the university before and during the exercise. She also praised members of the university administration and other university officials for their dedication and hard work, which contributed to the exercise’s unprecedented success. She stated that she believes the achievement will propel the university up future university rankings, and that her administration will ensure that all programs are accredited in the next round.
