Gov. Oyebanji Applauds JAMB for Including Ekiti PWDs in 2025 UTME
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has been commended by Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji for giving candidates with disabilities in the state the chance to take the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The Governor also praised Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Board, for launching the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group (JEOG). This inclusive education platform has made it possible for physically challenged candidates to pursue their careers and obtain postsecondary education.
The Governor, represented by his Special Adviser on Special Education and Social Inclusion, Mrs. Adetoun Agboola, spoke at the Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, one of the centers for special candidates taking part in this year’s UTME organized by JEOG. The governor emphasized the state government’s efforts to support the education of PwDs, revealing that the state university is currently establishing a department of special education. She also added that the initiative would increase access to higher education for graduates of special schools in the area.

“On April 28 and 29, all 501 candidates from these centers will take the test.
For the last eight years, JAMB has been administering this test. When Prof. Is-haq Oloyede took over as registrar, the inclusive education program was launched. Both able-bodied and impaired candidates are featured because he felt that everyone should be supported.
Additionally, he thanked Emeritus Professor Peter Okebukola for his dedication and enthusiasm in meeting PwDs’ educational demands.
Making sure that kids with disabilities—like blindness, hearing loss, and physical difficulties—get the assistance and attention they require is the aim. For example, people who are unable to write are given helpers to write for them.
“I also want to thank the Ekiti State Government for their ongoing assistance, which includes creating a welcoming atmosphere for the exam to start. Thirty of the 32 registered candidates are present, and the environment is favorable for them. Additionally, the government has made sure that basic necessities like lodging, security, and medical facilities are available.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Wole Adebayo, on behalf of EKSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Babatola Ayodele, praised JAMB and the federal government for providing equitable chances to underrepresented applicants.
We are proud to host a center at Ekiti State University, where they are participating in the 2025 UTME. This program reinforces the idea that there is ability in disability. If we give everyone, especially candidates with disabilities, equal opportunities in education, they can thrive,” he stated.
