Shocking Stats: Over 1.5 Million Candidates Score Below 200 in 2025 UTME
In the recently ended 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), more than 1.5 million of the 1,955,069 applicants received scores lower than 200.
This was disclosed in the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board’s (JAMB) statistical analysis of the 2025 UTME results, which was made public on Monday.
According to the data, only 420,415 applicants received a score higher than 200 on the UTME in 2025.
According to the data, less than 1% of the candidates had a score above 300 on the test, and 75% of them received a score below 200.

2025 UTME result analysis

“40,247 underage candidates were permitted to demonstrate their exceptional abilities,” according to the statement that JAMB included with the statistics. Although their success in the next three phases is still uncertain, only 467 of these candidates (1.16%) received scores that fulfill the UTME’s criteria for exceptional ability.
“Out of all the applicants who enrolled, 97 engaged in exam violations, and 2,157 more are presently being investigated for possible malpractices.
Furthermore, 71,701 candidates did not show up. Those who have biometric issues are also being investigated, and those who pass will be rescheduled for testing at certain locations.
Additionally, certain results are still being processed, such as those of blind candidates and other members of the JEOG candidates group.
“Later this week, a press conference will be held to announce each candidate’s individual results and to make it easier to check the results.”
