OAU Post UTME 2025: Online Exam Experience & Issues
A candidate who participated in the OAU post-UTME exam from home shared their experience, emphasizing the convenience despite concerns about strict online monitoring and cheating.
One candidate who spoke with our reporter mentioned that they only had to take a bike ride to a nearby cyber café to complete the exam. He indicated that the test comprised 40 questions and lasted one hour. “I was pleased because I didn’t need to travel to the university campus to take the test,” he noted.
The candidate also mentioned that online supervision was implemented throughout the entire process. “We could hear the invigilators’ voices. Even though I was in a comfortable setting, the pressure of the exam was palpable because it was conducted under rigorous monitoring,” he shared.
However, not every candidate enjoyed a seamless experience. Reports indicated that some candidates were logged out during the exam after being flagged by online invigilators for potential cheating. Others stated that they received notifications later on, stating that their results had been withheld due to alleged violations during the examination.
In response to these reports, the Students’ Union Government (SUG) president, Comrade Omoboriowo Damilola, condemned the actions of certain parents, students, and tutorial centers that threaten a system intended to facilitate the examination process.
“Isn’t it advantageous that students can now take exams from the comfort of their homes, rather than having to journey long distances? The minimal expectation is to adhere to the simple guidelines and act ethically. Instead, some centers exploit this opportunity to become hubs for cheating,” he remarked.
