2025 UTME: “No Region is Targeted—JAMB” Registrar Dismisses Conspiracy Claims

Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, or JAMB, has denied rumors that the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) technical error was a plot against some regions of the nation.
Remember how the technical issue impacted Lagos and the five Southeast states? Many claim the Board purposefully tampered with Southeast candidates’ results.
In a meeting with the board’s management before the results of the rescheduled UTME exam were announced on Wednesday, Oloyede denied the rumors.
The gathering observes a minute’s silence in honor of the student, he added, adding that it was unfortunate that a candidate had died as a result of the exam.
He asserted that since all of the candidates are Nigerian and had equal prospects, there was no intentional effort to discredit pupils from the Southeast.
This rebuttal follows demands for Oloyede’s resignation over the technical issue that impacted over 300,000 pupils from various quarters, especially South-East politicians.
The South-East Caucus of the 10th House of Representatives demanded Oloyede’s resignation on Tuesday due to the technical issue, according to the DAILY POST.
Additionally, the caucus demanded that the exam be canceled entirely and that a new date be set for the nationwide exercise.
The parliamentarians called the results of the examination a “national shame” in a statement signed by Igariwey Iduma Enwo, the caucus leader.
They said, “To this end, we call for the immediate suspension of those at the commanding heights of JAMB’s digital operations and examination logistics.
Although the JAMB registrar is regarded as a fine man, leadership must have repercussions. To clear the path for a comprehensive investigation and correction of the underlying reasons for this national disgrace, we hereby urge Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of JAMB, to take the necessary action and step down from his position.
“We expect no less, and that is the way to go in any civilized democracy.”
