History Repeats! Another ‘Nmesoma’ Shatters UTME Record in Anambra School — JAMB Confirms
The student with the highest score in her school, Obiora-Nwokedi Nmesoma, was a candidate in the recently finished 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Nmesoma, a student at the Anglican-owned Queens Convent Awka in Anambra state, received a score of 343 on the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board’s (JAMB) retake exam.
In the infamously flawed edition, she received a score of 165, which the exam authority attributed to systemic errors.
The terrible incident reportedly caused stress to many kids, including the girl who supposedly committed suicide.
In an exclusive interview with our correspondent, Dr. Martha Ibezim, the school’s principal, credited Nmesoma’s accomplishment to the institution’s dedication to both academic achievement and the overall development of its students.
She also attributed the exceptional accomplishment to the school’s committed professors, cutting-edge facilities, and demanding preparatory courses.
Ibezim claimed that the triumph had not only given the pupil a bright future but also made the school proud and strengthened its standing as a top center for both academic and personal development.
She stated, “Despite receiving a depressing score of 165 on the exam at first because of alleged issues with the JAMB system, Nmesoma refused to let this define her.
She flew to an amazing score of 343 when given the chance to retake the test, demonstrating her academic prowess and the superb preparation her school had given her.
Like many aspirational students in Nigeria, Nmesoma started her journey with the goal of doing well on the UTME in order to get into a prestigious institution.
Nmesoma, a standout student who has always excelled academically, was taken aback when her initial JAMB result of 165 did not accurately represent her ability.
Even the most motivated student would have been deterred by the poor score, which was ascribed to JAMB system errors.
“But Nmesoma remained unfazed, strengthened by the steadfast support of her teachers and the strong academic foundation at Queens Convent Awka.”
