Feeling alarmed by the absence of structure, guidance, and effective learning systems, which it attributes to the widespread failure in public examinations, a learning and tutoring platform named Tuteria has taken steps to address the escalating examination failure rates in the country, starting with the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) organized by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

During the official launch of Tuteria Prep, aimed at addressing the declining examination success rates, the organization expressed that the shocking drop in exam performance compelled it to reconsider the methods of mass examination preparation in the nation.

This innovative learning technology, part of a long-term educational initiative intended to assist with various national exams, initially introduces JAMB as its first significant public implementation; it integrates artificial intelligence-driven personalized learning alongside expert subject tutors recognized as national academic authorities, creating an organized framework that enables students to study more effectively.

The program features daily quizzes, progress tracking for mastery, and weekly mock exams that replicate actual JAMB conditions, in addition to live classes held five days a week to promote regular participation.

Its intelligent system automatically detects areas of weakness and offers specific enhancements, providing every learner with a distinct, guided pathway toward achieving top scores.

For nearly a decade, Tuteria has aided thousands of learners through individualized tutoring and skill-based education, expressing concern that in 2024, over 1.36 million students scored below 200, with less than one percent reaching 300 or above.

Results from 2022 and 2023 were similarly discouraging, with 1.33 million and 1.17 million candidates respectively scoring below the 200 mark, representing 77.8 and 76.6 percent of test-takers.

The Chief Executive Officer, Godwin Benson, remarked: “Many talented students were failing, not due to a lack of intelligence, but because they did not have the structure, guidance, and effective learning systems in place.”

This situation prompted Tuteria to pilot a new exam-preparation model from February to April 2025, involving a select group of students in an innovative JAMB preparation initiative.

Amid the national trend of mass failure, the Tuteria Prep pilot reportedly resulted in several high achievers, with many surpassing the 300 mark for the first time.

Benson stated that this success served as evidence that led to the recent nationwide launch.
