NELFUND Alerts Students: Beware of Fake Online Loan Portals!
The Fund has stated its dedication to transparency, safety, and fairness in the loan application process, noting that it will always communicate through its verified channels.
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has cautioned students to be aware of a fraudulent online portal containing deceptive messages.
A statement released by the fund’s Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, in Abuja on Monday, characterized the information in the online messages as misleading.
“The attention of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund has been drawn to a deceptive message currently spreading online, falsely asserting that President Bola Tinubu has ordered the reopening of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund Student Loan portal.
“This message includes a link to a fraudulent website: https://nelfund-student-loan-2025.po-rt-al.com/NELFUND/.
“We want to clearly state that this website is FAKE, and the information in the message is incorrect and misleading.
“The sole official portal for the Nigerian Education Loan Fund Student Loan Application is https://nelf.gov.ng,” she stated.
She encouraged the public, particularly students, parents, and guardians, to refrain from clicking on unverified links and to never provide personal or financial details on dubious websites.
According to her, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund is dedicated to transparency, safety, and fairness in the loan application process, and it will always make announcements via its verified platforms.
Oluwatuyi advised students to contact the Fund through its official social media pages: ‘X’ (formerly Twitter): @nelfund, Instagram: @nelfund, and on Facebook & LinkedIn: Nigerian Education Loan Fund – NELFUND.
She also urged students to report any questionable messages or websites to the fund via email at info@nelf.gov.ng.
