NANS, NLC Unite To Tackle Challenges in Nigeria’s Education Sector
Recently, Mr. Olusola Ladoja, the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), led the association’s executives in a courtesy visit to Comrade Joe Ajaero, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, at the Labour House.
The two leaders expressed concerns about the deteriorating state of education and the increasing insecurity in hostels, particularly incidents of armed robbery.
They noted that technological advancement relies on quality education, and students are the primary beneficiaries of such education.
As a result, they resolved to collaborate in addressing the ongoing challenges in the education sector that hinder progress and development, including urging the government to fulfill its agreements with educational unions and to allocate funding for education to reach the 26% of the national budget recommended by UNESCO.
They pointed out that certain government agencies, such as the NNDC, should have made greater efforts in their educational interventions.
