The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program (MCFSP) at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana, is accepting applications from academically talented but economically disadvantaged young people in Africa for the 2022/2023 academic year. The deadline for application submission is June 30, 2022.
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at KNUST delivers quality university education to academically outstanding but economically disadvantaged young people in Ghana and Africa.
The purpose is to develop the next generation of African leaders who are ethical and transformational. Scholars in the program will receive comprehensive training that will prepare them to be change agents. The Scholars Program include a variety of services such as mentorship, cultural transition, and others that will lead to academic success, community participation, and career prospects for scholars, all of which will contribute to Africa’s aim of social and economic change.
Eligibility for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at KNUST
All applicants having WASSCE, GBCE, ABCE, GCE O’Level and A’Level or similar results from an accredited/recognised institution who are Certificate Ready and meet KNUST’s Admission Requirements are eligible. NO CANDIDATES WITH PENDING RESULTS WILL BE ACCEPTED. The result of the applicant must be at least a year old.
The applicant must show that he or she has critical financial needs.
The applicant must have a track record of leadership and involvement in the community (s).
Female displaced persons will be given priority (Certified Refugees, Internally Displaced Persons, etc.)
People with Disabilities
The applicant must be willing to return to his or her community and give back.
The applicant must not be a student at a university or college.
Benefits of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at KNUST
Financial assistance in its entirety (full tuition, fully paid on-campus accommodation, learning materials, transportation and monthly stipend).
Supportive Counseling Services
Services for Professional Development (including Industrial Mentorship, Career Guidance, Professional Development, Enterprise Development amongst others)
Regular group meetings with other scholars to discuss personal and professional development opportunities, as well as activities designed to strengthen societal interactions and scholars’ capacity.
Academic mentoring, virtual learning, and tutoring will continue to be available.
Opportunities to participate in leadership conferences, community service and mentorship (Go-Back Give-Back), and professionally developed internships with industry.
The distinction of joining the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Alumni and the Global Scholars Community, as well as the opportunity to network with them.
