Law Firm Demands JAMB Releases UTME Questions & Answers After Over 70% Failure Rate!

John Nwobodo & Associates, a law firm, has formally requested that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, or JAMB, provide the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, or UTME, questions and answers for over 1.5 million applicants.
As the DAILY POST remembers, the high failure rate of the exam, with more than 70% of applicants receiving scores below 200, raises concerns.
Some Nigerians expressed disapproval with the results.
The law firm, which represents 1,534,654 candidates, expressed concerns about potential inconsistencies in the results and hypothesized that JAMB’s software might have malfunctioned.
Candidates’ results ranged significantly from less than 100 to 160 to 199, according to the firm, and several of the lowest scorers expressed skepticism about the validity of the testing procedure.
“The aforementioned situation has raised questions regarding the reliability of the software used by the Board to administer and mark the questions,” the solicitors wrote in their letter to JAMB.
“Unfortunately, the system is set up so that applicants cannot view specific breakdowns; they can only view their overall aggregate and particular topic scores.
“Moreover, the board is now under scrutiny as a result of this circumstance, making accountability and transparency not only essential but also unavoidable going forward.”
To allow them to evaluate each candidate’s performance on their own, the legal team also encouraged JAMB to be transparent by making available the whole set of questions and answers for each applicant.
In this case, the board’s transparency and accountability requirements necessitate resetting your system to show the questions and their related answers in addition to the candidates’ total score.
The strategy will either validate the results that have been released, increasing public confidence, or it will highlight problems that need to be fixed to enhance exam integrity.
The law firm emphasized its commitment to ensuring that the examination results are fair and correct by stating that its clients are prepared to take legal action if JAMB does not comply with the request.
“Note that our clients have instructed us to pursue all available legal options to obtain justice for the candidates who have been wronged.
The letter said, “We would be pleased to collaborate with you on any measures that could help allay candidates’ worries regarding their actual performance in the 2025 UTME.”
The letter’s conclusion urged JAMB to respond promptly in compliance with the Freedom of Information Act’s deadlines.
