JAMB Suspends 113 CBT Centers Over Irregularities—Mop-Up Exam Date Announced!

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has given its approval for the 2025 UTME mop-up exam to take place on June 28.

Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the board’s public communications advisor, made this announcement in Abuja on Sunday.

The 5,096 spillover candidates and those who failed biometric verification during the main exercise would be accommodated in the exam, according to Benjamin.

“The special dispensation granted to absentee candidates of the main and resit examinations is the reason for the new date,” he noted.

He stated that the examination day’s first session will begin at 8:00 a.m.

He advised applicants to attend one or one and a half hours before the exam’s actual start time for the 8:00 a.m. session.

In order to be ready for the mop-up exam, Benjamin also suggested that qualified applicants print their exam notification slips starting on Monday.

He claims that 91,742 applicants who missed any or both of the main and retake exams will also be offered this chance, which is exclusive to the 2025 UTME.

According to him, 96,838 candidates would be rescheduled for the 2025 mop-up exercise at 183 locations nationwide, with the remaining candidates being placed on standby.

Benjamin added that several CBT centers involved in the ongoing security investigations’ sharp tactics were being suspended, and those proven to be at fault will be delisted and referred for prosecution.

According to him, 113 CBT centers nationwide have been suspended or delisted, and some more have been linked to several violations throughout the main or retake exam process.

He stated that the board praised the security agencies, especially the DSS, police, and NSCDC, for their persistence in the ongoing investigation into examination malpractice syndicates and identity theft.

He said that tens of offenders, including some JAMB officials, professional test-takers, and syndicates of some school owners and tutorial centers, had been arrested and prosecuted as a result of the inquiry.

According to Benjamin, several examination towns were no longer qualified to be used for the mop-up examinations as a result of the study.

“The examination towns nearest to the delisted towns would be allotted to the few candidates who belong to the deactivated examination towns.

“We aim to comprehend such candidates,” he stated. (NAN)
