JAMB Spends ₦113.8 Million to Supervise UTME Across 7 Countries — Here’s Why!

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) invested N113.8 million in supervision across seven international locations where candidates participated in the 2025 Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Examination on July 12, 2025.

This amount was part of the board’s expenditures, as reported by The PUNCH on Monday.

The seven international centers are located in Buea, Cameroon; Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; London, United Kingdom; Johannesburg, South Africa; Lome, Togo; Cotonou, Benin Republic; and Accra, Ghana.

The board acknowledged that the foreign UTME component improved the global recognition of Nigerian higher education by encouraging the enrollment of international students.

It is worth noting that last year, JAMB held the UTME in eight different countries, underscoring its dedication to advancing Nigerian education on an international scale.

On Monday, the board announced that it has included the number of foreign students admitted as one of the criteria for the NATAP M-Award, honoring institutions that perform well in attracting international students.

“The 2024 foreign UTME took place in London, United Kingdom; Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Cameroon; Accra, Ghana; Cotonou, Benin Republic; Johannesburg, South Africa; Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire; and Banjul, The Gambia.

“This initiative has effectively drawn international students to Nigerian universities.

“Additionally, JAMB has factored in the number of foreign students admitted by a specific institution as a criterion for the NATAP M-Award, which celebrates institutions excelling in international student enrollment,” stated JAMB.
