JAMB Slams Tertiary Institutions Bypassing CAPS for Admission—”It’s Unauthorized!”
Higher education institutions have been cautioned by Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, that admissions made using methods other than the Central Admissions Processing System are not acceptable.
Oloyede issued the warning at Redeemer’s College of Technology and Management’s matriculation ceremony in Mowe, Ogun State.
212 students in all matriculated for the School of Engineering Technology, the School of Environmental Studies, the School of Management Studies, and the School of Science and Technology’s National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programs during the ceremony.
The JAMB registrar, who spoke at the ceremony, stated that the organization will keep exposing universities that do not handle admissions appropriately, particularly through CAPS.
On behalf of JAMB’s Ogun State Coordinator, Abdulhakeem Abdulhakeem, he stated that the caliber of admission officers in postsecondary institutions had improved after the organization’s services were automated.
In order to streamline the admissions process, automate it, overcome the drawbacks of the manual approach, and regain the sovereignty of tertiary institutions with regard to admissions, the JAMB created the CAPS.
Oloyede, however, maintained that the admission process of RECTEM followed CAPS.
“Any admission made outside of CAPS is not valid. I’m going to assume that the Central Admission Process System was used to admit all of these pupils.
“Those who don’t deserve credit won’t receive it from JAMB. We’ll let you know when you’re acting improperly. As the registrar, I am authorized to inform you that your admissions have been thoroughly reviewed, evaluated, and accepted,” Oloyede stated.
Oloyede counseled the management of RECTEM to maintain the standards.
Dr. Stella Mofunanya, the institution’s rector, gave parents and students assurances during the event that the new students would get unwavering, high-quality instruction and skills that would equip them to contribute to the growth of the country.
As a religious organization, we are dedicated to giving you a well-rounded education that blends academic success with spiritual development, she stated.
We understand that education is about developing character and integrity as much as it is about learning facts and abilities. We are dedicated to assisting you in becoming well-rounded people who are capable of having a constructive influence on your communities.

Professor Idris Bugaje, the executive secretary of the National Board for Technical Education, also spoke and urged students to realize that, in addition to a degree, they should acquire the skills that will be helpful once they graduate.
“The training you are going to receive here is going to be on skill,” he stated, speaking on behalf of Ayo Aroge, Director, NBTE South West Zonal Office, Lagos. It will be more of a hands-on program, so don’t expect a lot of academic activities.
The curriculum has been designed to prepare you for self-sufficiency once you graduate. After you graduate, don’t expect to get hired by anyone. You already have the tools necessary to improve yourself both in Nigeria and abroad when you graduate. If you go to apply for a job, you will let yourself down. Work for yourself. Be prepared to fully accept the abilities.
He praised the RECTEM for conducting the seventh matriculation ceremony without any problems.
