JAMB Shifts Exam Date for Underage UTME Candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has postponed the final assessment date for underage candidates who took part in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

This change, the Board stated, was necessitated after 23 out of the 71 universities selected by the affected candidates did not provide their Post-UTME screening scores by the original cutoff of September 15, 2025.

In a statement issued by its Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB pointed out that while the National Examinations Council (NECO) released the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results on September 17, many institutions had not yet conformed.

The universities that failed to meet this deadline include the University of Lagos (39 candidates), Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja (18), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (15), University of Abuja (12), and University of Uyo (9), among others. In total, 135 candidates are impacted.

JAMB has officially communicated with the involved institutions, instructing them to submit the pending screening scores promptly.

The Board also reminded universities of their responsibilities under the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). It has directed public universities to send their recommended candidates by Tuesday, September 30, 2025, while private universities have until Friday, October 31, 2025.

JAMB reiterated that the final deadlines—October 30 for public universities and November 31 for private universities—are mandatory, as established in the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions led by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa.

The Board highlighted that strict adherence to these timelines is crucial for ensuring a seamless, equitable, and transparent admissions process for the 2025/2026 academic year.
