JAMB Releases 2025 UTME Resit Results, Cancels Over 3,000 Results for Exam Malpractice!

The results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) retake for applicants impacted by technical issues at different sites have been formally issued by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The board acknowledged that a noteworthy 21,082 candidates were not present out of the 336,845 candidates that were rescheduled for the test in a statement released on Sunday morning by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin.

The large number of people who did not show up for the rescheduled exam was not explained.

Malpractice in Examinations and Withdrawals of Results

More than 3,000 students’ results were withdrawn after JAMB revealed that it had discovered instances of exam malpractice in which they had committed fraud.

“Pairing of candidates with professional mercenaries (after willful disruption of sitting arrangements) who had registered for the UTME for the purpose of gaining access to the examination hall” was one of the troubling trends that the board identified.

The involvement of undergraduate students from tertiary institutions in planning these illegal schemes has raised concerns from JAMB, making efforts to ensure the integrity of exams even more difficult.

More than 3,000 applicants across the country have been found to have participated in or benefited from this remarkable exam scam. As the inquiry goes on, even if the results have already been made public, all candidates linked to these immoral practices will have their results revoked as soon as unquestionable evidence is found,” the statement said.

An explanation of high scorers in sessions that were canceled

Additionally, JAMB clarified that there is no truth to the rumors about candidates who allegedly scored highly in canceled sessions.

“Some people’s false inquiries about candidates who supposedly performed well in the postponed sessions and possibly want to save their prior results are completely baseless. Only a few of the candidates got up to 217 in the impacted sessions, while 99% earned below 200 marks—indicating that there were no high scorers in the cancelled sessions of the affected six states,” the board stated.

Remaining Findings and Current Research

With the exception of those pertaining to students who committed exam violations and those who were scheduled for mop-up exams, JAMB guaranteed that all results have now been made public.

The board also underlined that results for implicated candidates that had previously been made public had to be withdrawn due to subsequent security agency findings.

Since those impacted by withdrawals are alerted via email, text messages, and their registered profiles, candidates with valid results are not obliged to recheck their scores.

To maintain the legitimacy of the UTME examination process and guarantee merit-based admission into Nigeria’s postsecondary institutions, JAMB continues to implement strict safeguards as part of its dedication to fairness and honesty.

What you should know

  • The board’s registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, had admitted in a press conference that technical glitches compromised the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in 157 centers.
  • The board confirmed the error originated from a technical issue involving one of its two operational vehicles used to manage examinations nationwide.
  • This led to flawed exam content in specific operational zones, affecting 379,997 candidates in Lagos and South-East centers. This led to the announcement of a retake for these students affected.
