Guidelines for its examination officials have been reviewed by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.

The training, which took place virtually on Saturday, March 4, 2023, stated that all examination officials must always conduct themselves professionally, especially when handling malpractice cases without necessarily creating a scene in the hallway, according to the bulletin released by the examination board on Monday.

As part of the review exercise, proctors are also required to abstain from bringing their mobile phones into the examination hall, charging them there, or communicating with outside parties during the exam. Additionally, examination officials were advised not to engage in any act of extortion of candidates and, at the same time, to ensure that candidates are protected from any form of extortion as well.

The board claims that all of its regulations are intended to serve as guidelines for all of its examiners, and as such, they must be strictly and scrupulously adhered to because the conduct and attitude of the examiners determine whether the exam is successful or not.

Additionally, JAMB reported that it had prepared at least 2,000 invigilators for the 2023 Direct Entry and Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Examinations.

The board added that the training, which was conducted concurrently in three batches throughout the six geopolitical zones, gave it the chance to evaluate the guidelines for proctors and other examination officials.
