UTME 2025: JAMB Grants Resit Chance to Candidates Who Missed Rescheduled Exams!

The board instructed impacted applicants to submit a ticket on the JAMB site, explaining why they were unable to take the UTME and specifying where they would like to take the make-up exam, in a post on its X handle on Friday.

For applicants who were unable to attend the postponed 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a new opportunity.

The board instructed impacted applicants to submit a ticket on the JAMB site, explaining why they were unable to take the UTME and specifying where they would like to take the make-up exam, in a post on its X handle on Friday.

“Notice, Rescheduled UTME Candidates for 2025! Did you have a valid cause for missing your scheduled exam?

The message said, “Please submit a ticket to that effect at http://support.jamb.gov.ng explaining why you were unable to attend the session and where you would like to retake the exam.”

UTME rescheduled

After an assessment of results showed that a technical issue had impacted results from 157 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers in portions of Lagos, Anambra, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, and Enugu states, JAMB rescheduled the UTME for more than 300,000 applicants.

Following numerous concerns expressed by applicants, their families, and other Nigerians regarding low scores—particularly by candidates with a history of superior performance—the review was carried out on Monday and Tuesday.

Following the investigation, JAMB acknowledged its mistake and blamed a faulty software update for the problem.

Additionally, the board declared that starting today (Friday), the impacted candidates would retake the test.

1.5 million, or 78% of the 1.9 million applicants who took the UTME this year, received fewer than 200 of the 400 possible points.

Is-haq Oloyede, the JAMB Registrar, had previously stated that the UTME figures are in line with what has been available throughout time. Seventy-six percent of applicants who took the UTME last year received a score below 200.

But after carefully reviewing the 2025 UTME results, Mr. Oloyede said, “I apologise and take full responsibility, not just in words,” acknowledging that he is fully responsible for the blunder.
