JAMB Confirms: UTME Candidates Can Now Take Exams Anywhere in Nigeria!

“In a recent interview with a NAN reporter, I clarified that candidates are not restricted to taking the examination within their state of registration. They have the flexibility to register anywhere in the country and select any town nationwide from any registration point.” The Joint Administration and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said in a statement on Wednesday that its candidates are free to sit for their examination anywhere in the country in response to a misleading publication regarding the UTME examination that falsely claims that candidates cannot sit for the examination outside of their state of registration.

It is important to clear up this misunderstanding to avoid confusion among candidates. “Those who have registered for the UTME and selected examination towns outside their state of registration are indeed permitted to sit for the examination in their chosen towns,” he added. “Computer-based test centers are clustered according to towns for convenience, allowing candidates to choose the town where they wish to take the examination.” For instance, if a candidate chooses Garki as their examination town, they must take the exam there and cannot do so or be posted, as frequently alleged, to a different town.

This flexibility is intended to satisfy candidates’ preferences and guarantee that they can select a place that works for them.

He went on, “We implore the public to ignore the false report from NAN in its entirety.”
