JAMB Begins Nationwide Sensitisation for 2026 UTME
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has commenced a nationwide sensitisation campaign to educate prospective 2026 UTME and Direct Entry (DE) candidates on proper registration procedures. The initiative is part of activities marking the board’s 2025 Customer Service Week.
Speaking at the Government Science Technical College, Bwari, Abuja, JAMB nodal officer Elisabatu Jekada urged candidates to ensure their registration details are accurate to avoid errors that could affect admission chances. She highlighted that names, dates of birth, and state and local government of origin must match records in the National Identification Number (NIN) database.
Jekada clarified that JAMB does not collect biodata directly; instead, candidates’ details are retrieved from NIMC. She advised students to correct any discrepancies with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) before beginning registration. “Once you register with incorrect details, they cannot be changed,” she warned.
Clement Ojo of JAMB’s Public Affairs and Protocol Unit emphasised the importance of using personal SIM cards and email addresses, as these serve as unique identifiers. Candidates are required to generate a profile code by sending an SMS in the format:
This code retrieves the candidate’s biodata from NIMC, and once generated, it cannot be changed. Candidates should then visit the nearest JAMB office or approved Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre to complete registration, including the purchase of an e-PIN from authorised banks or vendors.
Florence Makinde, team lead of JAMB SERVICOM, warned against forceful registrations if biometric issues arise. She advised, “Do not allow any CBT centre to register you against your will. Visit a JAMB office to resolve such issues.” Candidates are also advised to verify that their passport photograph and biometrics are correctly captured on dual screens during registration.
Fatima Salami of the SERVICOM Unit explained common messages during profile code generation:
-
Record Not Found: Validate your NIN at a NIMC office.
-
Wrong Parameter: Re-enter the correct format.
-
NIN already registered with GSM number: Use the same SIM previously registered.
-
Unable to verify NIN at the moment: Wait and try again later.
In Ogun State, coordinator Hakeem AbdulHameed reminded CBT operators that adherence to registration guidelines is non-negotiable, warning against extortion and urging candidates to consult the Integrated Brochure and Syllabus System (IBASS) for correct subject combinations.
The sensitisation campaign also reached Anambra, Benue, Taraba, Akwa Ibom, Oyo, and Imo states. In Owerri, SERVICOM head Blessing Effiong cautioned students to avoid fraudsters offering “special centres” or exam assistance. “JAMB does not tolerate malpractice. CCTV, biometric verification, and revalidation make irregularities nearly impossible. The best way to succeed is to study and follow official procedures,” she said.
JAMB advised all prospective candidates to rely solely on official communication channels as preparations for 2026 UTME/DE registration intensify.
