JAMB delists 4 centres, arrests 27 impersonators in ongoing UTME
During the present Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has detained 27 impersonators and delisted four computer-based testing (CBT) centers.
The board’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, made this announcement to reporters in Abuja on Friday.
He clarified that the CBT centers’ delisting was due to their inability to satisfy the exacting technological requirements needed for the current UTME.
According to Benjamin, Adventure Associate, which is situated behind Sheshe Supermarket off Hadejia Road in Kano, Kano State, and Saadatu Rimi College of Education, which is situated on Zaria Road in Naibawa, Kano, Kano State, are among the delisted centers.
Both Penta M & F Technical Services Ltd., Centre 1, 96km Sokoto-Jega Road, Tambuwal, and Centre 2, 96km Sokoto-Jega Road, Tambuwal, have also been delisted.
He said, “JAMB explicitly warns that any center failing to meet ethical or technical standards, regardless of ownership, will be blacklisted, even though it commends the 883 centers that have demonstrated exceptional performance.”
In order to access their new centers and rescheduled dates, Benjamin advised applicants who were originally scheduled to take their tests at the delisted centers to immediately reprint their examination notification slips.
“We apologize for any hardship this may have caused, but applicants who do not reprint their slips will not be allowed to claim excuses.
Benjamin also revealed that 27 impersonators had been arrested and turned over to the Nigeria Police for prompt prosecution.
In response to the Caleb University issue, he stated that the Board was made aware of the unauthorized limitations imposed on applicants who wore hijabs.
He promised that prompt action had been taken and that the university’s vice-chancellor had denounced the overzealous security officer’s actions.
“We sincerely apologize to the impacted candidates and commend the university and center leadership for their swift action, which made sure that no candidate was unfairly disadvantaged,” he continued.
