JAMB Splashes Over ₦397 Million on Transport Allowance for 2025 Mock UTME Officials!
For 1,909 officials taking part in the 2025 Mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), which is set to be held countrywide on April 10, 2025, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released N397,030,900 as transportation allowances.
Mufutau Bello, the Director of Finance for JAMB, said this at a strategic meeting in Abuja to assess the Board’s readiness for the mock test and the actual UTME.
Bello emphasized the mock exam’s size and importance while pointing out the initial disbursement’s restricted scope and financial commitment.
The dignity of our procedures, the tertiary education system, and significant financial resources are all at risk. More than N397,030,900 has been given as transportation allowances to the 1,909 officials who are traveling for the simulated exercise, which is set for April 10, 2025.
“This sum is just the first stage, and it represents one-third of all the officials involved,” Bello said.
Bello emphasized the significance of the mock exam for the country’s educational system and regarded it as a fundamental component of JAMB’s duties.
Our basic mandate begins with the mock exercise, and as always, we must set ourselves apart. The success of this exercise is crucial for the country; any failures could compromise the integrity of our educational system,” he stated.
Exam equipment warning
During a virtual training and final briefing for technical officers on April 3, JAMB Registrar Professor Is-haq Oloyede cautioned technical officers in charge of the board’s examination systems to safeguard the government-owned facilities, stating that any loss or damage would be taken seriously.
“Violations on the property are not taken lightly. Just one of these facilities cost the board almost five million naira to acquire, and since they belong to the government, you will be held responsible for any system failures,” he stated.
He emphasized that the officers are solely responsible for the security and upkeep of the facilities that they oversee.
Additionally, the Registrar urged the officials to avoid unethical activities that could jeopardize the UTME process, like bribery and collusion.
Keep your distance from those who are not your associates. Don’t accept bribes, please. We have paid the amount that the government stipulates we must pay, within the permitted limits,” he stated.
He went on to say that any misbehavior is unacceptable because all allowances owed to officers have been paid in accordance with federal regulations.
