Gov Sule Covers NECO Fees for 24,000 Students — Massive Boost for Education!

The payment of the National Examination Council (NECO) registration fee for more than 24,000 students enrolled in public secondary schools in Nasarawa State has been authorized by Governor Abdullahi Sule.

This was revealed yesterday at a bimonthly press conference in Lafia by Peter Ahemba, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the governor on Public Affairs.

Ahemba said that the program, which was the government’s second attempt at this, had enrolled every senior in public secondary schools.

Since both Indigenous and non-Indigenous students in public schools benefited from the government gesture, he said, the government did not discriminate against any student.

According to the governor’s assistant, the goal was to guarantee that all qualified pupils could take the test without putting a strain on their parents’ finances.

The SSA emphasized that the state’s efforts to support education and lessen financial hardship for students and their families included this initiative.
“The state was ranked second in the North-Central performance index in NECO for 2024 and ninth in the entire country due to the state government’s massive investment in the education sector,” he continued.

The governor’s assistant added that the state administration has finalized plans to build 30 blocks of additional classrooms through the federal government’s Adolescent Girls Initiative for Leadership and Empowerment (AGILE) program.
