Galadima to FG: Don’t Shut Schools, Strengthen Security
Buba Galadima, a member of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Board of Trustees, has urged the Federal Government to focus on protecting schools instead of closing them due to security concerns.
Galadima shared his views on Monday during an interview with Arise Television.
The NNPP leader recognized the challenge state governments face in protecting students from insecurity while ensuring they get a proper education.
“First, it is shameful to shut down schools. It reflects badly on the government and its officials, including us. Schools must not be closed. The priority should be on how to secure them,” he said.
He also stressed that the government should go beyond just physical security and use technology to keep citizens safe.
“The government needs to move beyond relying only on physical security; we’ve moved past that. We must use technology to detect potential threats before they happen. We also need to form special teams to address issues ahead of time,” the NNPP leader added.
