FG Declares War on Exam Malpractice: Parents & Guardians to Face Prosecution if Caught!
The federal government has cautioned that parents and guardians who are found to have participated in examination misconduct will henceforth face legal action.
This occurred after the government ordered all schools to notify law enforcement and the appropriate educational authorities right away of any threats or violations of exam conduct.
The attack on the vice principal of Complete Child Development College in Akure, Ondo State, by thugs purportedly employed by the parents of a student who was caught cheating on an exam was denounced by Dr. Tunde Alausa, Minister of State for Education, in a statement.
According to national test criteria, any student found to be involved in malpractice will face consequences, Dr. Alausa said.
The Minister reiterated the Federal Ministry of Education’s zero-tolerance policy against exam cheating, intimidating school staff, and any other unethical behavior by students, parents, or guardians in a statement released through Boriowo Folasade, Director of Press and Public Relations.
In part, the statement says, “The Federal Ministry of Education strongly condemns the unfortunate incident that occurred at Complete Child Development College, Aule, Akure, Ondo State, where suspected thugs, allegedly hired by a student’s parents, assaulted the vice principal, Mr. Rotifa, for carrying out his lawful duty of upholding the integrity of the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).”
Ondo State Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and the State Police Command’s prompt action, which resulted in the arrest of four individuals, including Mrs. Dorcas Asije, was praised by Dr. Alausa.
To act as a deterrent, he demanded that all parties implicated be prosecuted and that extensive investigations be conducted.
“Any parent or guardian who permits, encourages, or engages in such criminal behavior will face prosecution,” he underlined. Any attempt to compromise the integrity of Nigeria’s educational system will not be accepted by this administration.
In order to guarantee secure, equitable, and reliable testing conditions, the minister asked schools to maintain their vigilance and work with state education ministries and law enforcement.
“The administration and employees of Complete Child Development College, and consequently, all education stakeholders across the country, continue to uphold the values of discipline, accountability, and academic excellence while resisting examination malpractice,” the statement continued. “The Federal Ministry of Education stands firmly with them.”
