EKSU Extends Deadline for 2025/2026 Post-UTME, DE Screening

Ekiti State University (EKSU) in Ado-Ekiti has officially announced that the deadline for registering for its Post-UTME and Direct Entry screening has been extended. The new deadline is now October 31, 2025, replacing the previously set date. This news is welcomed by numerous applicants who could not finalize their registration before the earlier deadline.

The university’s administration revealed that the extension was granted after thorough consideration of multiple requests from candidates and parents, who reported challenges in accessing the registration portal. The EKSU Admissions Office stated that the decision was made to “ensure that no eligible candidate is left out of the ongoing 2025/2026 admission exercise.” The institution highlighted that this extension is a strategic approach to foster fairness and accessibility in the admission process.

In a comprehensive announcement released via the Directorate of Information, the university encouraged applicants who have yet to register to take advantage of this opportunity and complete their applications without delay. Candidates are reminded that all registration activities must be conducted strictly through the official EKSU admission portal at https://eksuportal.eksu.edu.ng to avoid falling victim to fraudulent agents or imitation websites.

The 2025/2026 admission exercise at EKSU is available to both Post-UTME and Direct Entry (DE) candidates. The university clarified that no written examination will take place; instead, applicants will participate in an online screening process based on their UTME scores and O’Level results. This streamlined approach, according to the administration, promotes transparency and efficiency in selecting qualified students.

The screening process officially commenced on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, and will remain open until the newly extended deadline. To qualify, applicants must have achieved a score of 150 or more in the 2025 UTME and must choose EKSU as their first choice of institution on the JAMB Central Admission Processing System (CAPS). Those who originally selected other universities are advised to request a change of institution to EKSU via JAMB CAPS before proceeding.

While the general cutoff is set at 150, EKSU specified particular score requirements for highly competitive programs. These include:

  • Medicine & Surgery: 260
  • Law: 250
  • Doctor of Pharmacy: 240
  • Nursing Science: 230
  • Medical Laboratory Science: 220
  • Mass Communication: 200
  • Engineering: 180
  • Computer Science: 180
  • Medical Biochemistry: 180

Candidates who fall short of these requirements are still welcome to apply for different programs at the university.

For Direct Entry applicants, EKSU acknowledges JUPEB results with a minimum of 7 points, but clearly states that IJMB results will not be accepted. Individuals applying through polytechnic or college pathways must provide the qualifications listed below:

  • Engineering applicants: Upper Credit in relevant ND programs.
  • Other programs: Minimum of Lower Credit.
  • NCE holders: Credit or Merit in relevant teaching subjects for Education courses.

The application process is designed to be straightforward and fully conducted online. Applicants should start by visiting the EKSU website and clicking on “Admission.” They will need to create an account using a valid email address and personal phone number. After receiving a confirmation email, candidates can log in using either their JAMB registration number or the registered email address along with the password they created. They then need to select the 2025/2026 PUTME application option and enter their JAMB information.

If the applicant has already chosen EKSU as their first choice, their basic details will automatically populate; if not, they will need to fill this information out manually. Next, applicants must pay the screening fee online by clicking the “PAY NOW” button. Once the payment is verified, the screening form will become available for completion. Candidates should upload a 1”x1” colored passport photo with a red background (JPEG format) and provide their O-Level results from a maximum of two sittings in WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB.

Before submitting their application, candidates should carefully review all entered information to ensure its accuracy and print a copy of the completed screening form for their records. EKSU has highlighted that any application with incomplete or incorrect information may result in disqualification. Additionally, Direct Entry candidates are required to send their official academic transcripts to the university via admissions.registration@eksu.edu.ng by October 31, 2025.

To enhance communication and transparency, the university has launched a dedicated WhatsApp platform specifically for parents, guardians, and sponsors. This platform enables them to receive verified updates regarding admission timelines, payment instructions, and other essential notifications directly from the university’s admissions office. EKSU believes this initiative will help bridge the communication gap between the university and its stakeholders, especially those who may be less familiar with online processes.

With this extension, EKSU reinforces its dedication to offering equal opportunities to all qualified candidates across Nigeria. The management has encouraged applicants to avoid the rush at the last minute and utilize the extended timeframe to complete their applications accurately. As the October 31, 2025, deadline approaches, the university has reiterated that there will be no additional extensions following this date, as the admission process will transition into the verification and selection stage.

In summary, the university’s proactive approach reflects its willingness to support genuine applicants and its commitment to ensuring transparency, accessibility, and inclusivity in Nigeria’s higher education system.
