The education minister wants to extend NYSC for two years.

Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, Minister of Education, has pushed for the National Youth Duty Corps’ (NYSC) duty year to be extended to two years.

The Minister also praised the plan for the digitalized procedure, which has assisted in reducing certificate racketeering in West Africa that involves confident foreign-trained graduates.

The minister also discussed the persistent problem of OND part-time graduates who had previously been excused from National Service and had full-time HNDs.

He stated this during a courtesy call on Friday by Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, the new DG of NYSC, in his Abuja office.

“With the expansion of NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Training program content for Corps Members,” the minister said, “national service should be extended from one to two years.”

As an organization, you’ve performed incredibly well. “Let NYSC provide more opportunities for people to create jobs that will meet the nation’s needs,” he remarked.

The minister had earlier received praise from General Nafiu, who said he was creative and had made enormous progress in the field of education.

He demanded that a database of young Nigerians pursuing degree programs overseas be created.
