16 new academic programs are secured by Delta State Polytechnic.

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has approved the introduction of 16 new academic programs at Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, signifying a major advancement in the institution’s curriculum.

The permission comes after the NBTE carried out a thorough resource verification process.

Rector Professor Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri announced at the Delta State Polytechnic 2024 Nine Lessons and Carols Festival. He said the new programs cover a wide range of subjects, such as Mechatronics Engineering, Food Science and Technology, and Photography and Multimedia Technology.

The Rector stated, “This expansion is consistent with our dedication to delivering globally competitive and sustainable education.”

Professor Ufuophu-Biri credited Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori’s steadfast support for the Polytechnic’s current 46 academic programs.

Governor Oborevwori has demonstrated a remarkable commitment to improving Delta State’s educational system. This accomplishment would not have been possible without his material, financial, and moral support,” he said.

Additional gratitude was shown to the State House Committee on Education, which is chaired by Chief Charles Emetulu, and Professor Nyerovwo Tonukari, the Commissioner for Higher Education.

The Rector emphasized their contributions to promoting educational advancement throughout the state and advancing the goals of the Polytechnic.

According to reports, government measures have improved staff morale, which has resulted in ground-breaking research at the institution.

Professor Ufuophu-Biri said with pride, “Our team recently developed a fuel-less generator based on a symbiotic mechanistic operation pattern, a unique innovation that underscores our commitment to impactful research.”

The faculty and students at the Delta State Polytechnic were also praised by him for their outstanding contributions to academic success. “Their dedication and hard work are what continue to propel this institution to new heights,” he continued.

The launch of these initiatives is anticipated to strengthen the Polytechnic’s position as a center for technical education and innovation in Nigeria and strengthen its contribution to the country’s progress.
