Court Stops 2025/2026 Admissions at UNILAG, OAU, JAMB

The Federal High Court located in Enugu has instructed the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to halt all admission processes for the 2025/2026 academic year. Justice A.T. Segun-Bello issued this interim order in response to a suit brought by a group of candidates who took part in the post-UTME examinations at both universities.

The petitioners, Chibuzor Success, Oyeleye Zainab Ayomide, Adedeji John Samuel, Monsura Aliat Aduragbem, and Bassey Daniel Nsikak, contended that releasing or approving admission lists before addressing their concerns would endanger their opportunities and make the case futile. In granting the request, Justice Segun-Bello affirmed that the matters raised were significant and warranted thorough judicial review. The court consequently ordered that all involved parties be formally notified to submit their responses.

Until the case is resolved, the judge directed that the existing situation be preserved, which means no admission lists may be published or finalized by UNILAG, OAU, or JAMB for the 2025/2026 academic session. The hearing has been postponed to October 28, 2025, when both parties are anticipated to present their viewpoints.
