JAMB to Blacklist 130 CBT Centers Over Widespread Exam Fraud—Full Details Inside!
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed its intention to remove over 130 computer-based test centers from its list due to alleged manipulations and actions that jeopardize the monitoring of examination processes.
During a courtesy call from a group representing MTN Nigeria, JAMB Registrar Prof. Is-haq Oloyede shared this information, as highlighted in the board’s weekly bulletin published on Monday.
Oloyede enumerated several violations discovered, such as intentionally blocking the lenses of closed-circuit television cameras during assessments and unauthorized movements of routers that obstruct the board’s capability to monitor the centers effectively.
He also mentioned instances of photo blending and fingerprint tampering as new strategies for examination misconduct, emphasizing the importance of collaborating more closely with MTN to address this issue.
“The Board expressed its concern that some dishonest CBT center operators actively evaded its monitoring systems by repositioning their designated routers and engaging in actions that could compromise the integrity of the Board’s examination oversight.
“There have been cases where these centers covered their CCTV lenses to carry out unethical activities during the examination.
“Up to 130 CBT centers will be removed from the list due to their participation in these illegal actions.”
The JAMB leader denounced these practices, pointing out that the purpose of the CCTV installations was to facilitate real-time monitoring and surveillance after the examinations.
He further stated that centers found guilty would not receive compensation for the services provided, serving as a warning to others.
During the meeting, JAMB also requested that MTN enhance its service delivery, particularly in areas related to its operations.
Both parties also addressed concerns regarding underage SIM ownership, the customized SIM “Keep My Number,” and other related services.
Earlier, MTN’s Acting General Manager for Regional Operations (North-West), Mr. Ohwofasa Obazenu, stated that the visit aimed to reaffirm the telecom company’s commitment to supporting JAMB’s digital transformation initiatives.
He praised JAMB’s accomplishments as commendable and committed to MTN’s ongoing support for the board’s programs.
