Chaos Over NECO: Students Allegedly Set Principal’s House on Fire Over Exam Registration Dispute!
Enraged students from Gyutiev Model College, located in Saghev Ward, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, have allegedly set fire to the residence of their principal, Mr. Isaac Yina.
The incident reportedly took place in the early hours of Friday, June 27, and was allegedly sparked by accusations that the principal neglected to register 178 final-year students for the 2025 NECO examination, even after purportedly taking N85,000 from each student.
A Facebook post from Emmanuel Kash Keesha shared details about the event, stating that the frustrated students initiated the attack upon learning about their non-enrollment for the national exam.
His post states, “Mr. Isaac Yina, the principal of Gyutiev Model School in Ginde, Saghev Ward, Guma LGA of Benue State, had his home set on fire by furious student protesters after failing to register them for NECO exams despite collecting ₦85k each from around 178 students for registration.”
At the time of this report, there has been no official response from the Benue State Ministry of Education, the police, or school officials to verify the situation.
Attempts to contact the principal or any school representatives for comments have been unsuccessful thus far.
